Mission
My mission is to learn from people and continue to evolve my perspective by spreading love, challenging assumptions, and sharing inspiration.
Home
I was born and raised in San Francisco, CA as Blake Francesca Bertero, the middle of three daughters. My mother is a beautiful writer, my father's a thinker, my elder sister is a talker, and the youngest, a performer. Home inspires me everyday and has taught me how to celebrate change and build strong relationships.
Education
I am an undergraduate at Georgetown University studying Culture and Politics at the Walsh School of Foreign Service. My standout courses include Graphic Design, Diplomacy, Sociology, Economics, Spanish, Immigration, International Relations, and Global Development.
Abroad
I spent 4 months directly matriculated into a University into Buenos Aires, Argentina. I studied design, sociology, creative proceses, and cinema. I was inspired to make a documentary, and filmed and interviewed Argentinian artists for production back in the US. While there I designed advertising campaigns for a used book store, and built their digital presence with a creative team all in Spanish.
Publication
I have transitioned between digital and print publications throughout university, focusing my efforts on an intersectional women's magazine and a foreign affairs newspaper. Both publications aim to shine light on underrepresented communities, although through very different styles of communication.
Entrepreneurship
I have worked alongside 6 start ups that range in industry from fashion media, symptoms tracking, micro-loans, ai interfaces, and podcast production. I worked with diverse founders on brand identity, digital presence, and marketing strategy. I am extremely proud to say that I have helped secure early round investment for incredibly talented teams.
Photography
I love taking pictures and what began as a hobby has now transformed into a profession. I constantly capture street fashion and have built community through my Instagram account Dressed for Distraction. That high speed work has trained me well for the sports and events photography that I extremely enjoy while working at Georgetown Campus Recreations.
Scrapbooking
During junior year of high school, I filled my first journal. Now I don't go anywhere without one. They are a collection of class notes, personal essays, water color, ballpoint drawings, brainstorms, and to do lists.
